Routz: a unified fleet operations platform for live tracking and driver behaviour

Client: Routz

Routz: The Ultimate Unified Fleet Management Platform

Website design and development case study

Webdivs built Routz as a fleet operations product, not a map widget. Dispatchers see live vehicle location, trip status, and driver behaviour signals in one console, while a Flutter app and telematics gateway keep the field and the operations room on the same timeline.

01

The Challenge

Fleet operators were bleeding extensive capital daily due to reckless driving behaviors, fuel wastage, and complete blind spots on vehicle locations. Older systems were fragmented, slow, and structurally incapable of proactive issue alerts.

02

Our Solution

We deployed an enterprise-grade platform intelligently fusing live driving analytics with dynamic routing. We fortified the system with live dashcam captures, driver behavior deterrence, and fuel-efficiency coaching. The new architecture ensures flawless 24/7 connectivity with lightning-fast map rendering.

01 · Fleet Tracking Challenges

Location alone does not run a fleet

Operators were stitching GPS pings, phone calls, and spreadsheets. Delayed positions, missing trip context, and no shared driver-behaviour view made exceptions slow to resolve. Routz had to replace that patchwork with one operational picture.

Operations, not telemetry only

The product centres dispatcher decisions: where the vehicle is, what the trip is doing, and whether the driver pattern needs attention.

02 · Real-time Architecture

A live pipeline from device to dispatcher console

Flutter clients publish and consume location and trip events. A Node.js API and WebSocket layer fan those events to the console. Redis absorbs high-frequency position updates, while PostgreSQL stores trips, geofences, and audit history. Google Maps renders the operational map without becoming the system of record.

WebSocket fan-out

Dispatchers receive position and status changes without polling loops that stall under fleet load.

Hot cache + durable trips

Redis holds the live layer; PostgreSQL keeps the trip record that operations can query later.

03 · Telematics & Driver Behaviour

Gateway events turned into behaviour the desk can act on

The IoT telematics gateway normalises device payloads into events the product understands: harsh braking, idle time, route deviation, and ignition state. Those signals sit beside the map so a dispatcher can open a vehicle and see behaviour context, not a raw CAN dump.

Behaviour beside location

Safety and utilisation reviews use the same vehicle record as live tracking.

04 · Outcome

One console for location, trips, and exceptions

Routz gives operations a single place to watch the fleet, inspect a trip, and follow an exception. Drivers keep a focused Flutter app; the desk keeps the historical record. The architecture is built to add more vehicle classes and geofence rules without splitting the product into separate tools.

Unified operations record

Live map, trip history, and behaviour alerts share identifiers so follow-up does not restart in another system.

What the project delivered

$12,875 average quarterly savings per fleet achieved within the first quarter.
